Para comenzar, empezaste dentro del gobierno de Evo Morales como un embajador a las Naciones Unidas, ¿puedes explicar tu rol en esta época y caracterizar el primer turno del gobierno de Evo Morales?
Pablo Solón: Mi relación con los movimientos sociales indígenas y campesinos viene desde la década de los 90. Originalmente al Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) le considerábamos un instrumento político de las organizaciones sociales. El objetivo no era construir un partido político en el sentido tradicional, si no que los movimientos sociales, en particular campesinos e indígenas, contaran con un brazo político para intervenir en las elecciones, pero que siempre fuera el movimiento social el que tuviera el poder de decisión y no el partido. En este periodo nos conocimos con Evo Morales. El año 2000 se dio en Bolivia lo que fue la “Guerra del Agua”, después la “Guerra del Gas” y la lucha contra el ALCA, el Acuerdo de Libre Comercio de las Américas.
